PM extends business hours and days of some exempted operations

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis today extended the hours and days of operations for several exempted businesses and services.

Dry cleaners, which are newly exempted, and insurance companies are permitted to operate between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

A number of financial institutions — clearing banks, post office savings banks, money transmission business, and financial services — are also permitted to operate between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Plant nurseries are allowed operate between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Hardware, lumber, plumbing, home and hurricane awnings and hurricane protection businesses are permitted to operate between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Auto parts stores are allowed to operate between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays

Medical and health service facilities are permitted to provide non-emergency health services in accordance with operating guidelines outlined by the Medical Association of The Bahamas and the Ministry of Health.

The relaxation of some restrictions come as The Bahamas begins its transition to phase two of the five-phase re-opening plan.

“This phase includes the resumption of business operations in the Family Islands with no presence of COVID-19, increase in delivery and curbside operations, the addition of healthcare services and manufacturing industries, and the opening up of worship services,” a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister states.
